GURUDWARA SHRI BAOLI SAHIB is situated in Bhopal City of Madhya Pradesh.
The original name of Raja Bhoj’s capital was Bhojpal. There lived a man named Ganpat Lal. One day, this man misbehaved with a woman. The woman cursed him, saying, "May God give you leprosy." Some time later, Ganpat Lal developed leprosy all over his body. Despite seeking treatment from all the hakims, vaidyas, and sufis, his leprosy did not heal. Even his family members threw him out of the house, and he came here and started living in a small hut(Now Gurudwara Shri Tekri Sahib). One day, while Pir Jalaluddin was passing by, Ganpat Lal fell at his feet. Pir Ji said, "Falling at my feet will do nothing for you; only Baba Nanak can save you. So, focus on Baba Nanak Ji." From that moment, Ganpat Lal began chanting "Dhan Guru Nanak, Dhan Guru Nanak" all the time.
One day, hearing Ganpat Lal’s plea, SHRI GURU NANAK DEV JI came here. Ganpat Lal fell at GURU SAHIB's feet and said, "GURU SAHIB, I am being punished for my bad deeds. Please have mercy and relieve my suffering." GURU SAHIB asked Bhai Bala Ji to fetch some water. Bhai Bala Ji searched everywhere for water but couldn’t find any. He returned to GURU SAHIB and reported that there was no water to be found. GURU SAHIB then told Bhai Bala Ji, "The water is right in front of you. Go and fill the vessel." Following GURU SAHIB's command, Bhai Bala Ji quickly returned with water.
GURU SAHIB then instructed Bhai Bala Ji to play the rabab, and he himself took the water and sprinkled it on Ganpat Lal. Ganpat Lal began to loudly chant "Dhan Guru Nanak." GURU SAHIB blessed him, saying, "Go, you will be healed." Witnessing this, Ganpat Lal fainted. When he regained consciousness, he noticed that GURU SAHIB was no longer there. However, on the stone where GURU SAHIB had stood, the marks of his feet were visible. This place where the water had appeared is now the site of Gurudwara Shri Baoli Sahib.
